Player Misconduct, Technical, Flagrant and Intentional Fouls
1. Flagrant Fouls/Intentional Fouls/Technical Fouls
The official will call all flagrant fouls.
- Definition of Flagrant Foul/Technical Foul: A contract foul intended to hurt an opponent, fan or official; or a non-contact foul involving vulgar or verbally abusive behavior, illegal substitution, dunking, or hanging on the rim.
- Definition of Intentional Foul: A contact foul designated to neutralize an opponent’s obvious advantageous position. It may or may not be premeditated, and is not based on the severity of the act.
- Penalty: A choice between two (2) free throws from the free throw line (15 ft.) for one (1) point each, OR two (2) shots from behind the 2 point line for 2 points each will be awarded to the offended team. The team captain may designate the player to shoot.
- The offended team will retain possession of the basketball whether the shots are made or missed.
- One flagrant/technical foul will result in the player being automatically ejected from the game.
- Two flagrant/technical fouls will result in the player being automatically ejected from the tournament.
- Fighting and/or “throwing a punch” is a flagrant foul and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Foul shots will be awarded as described in Subsection B. and will result in immediate dismissal for the player(s) from the tournament.
- Continuous intentional fouling by a team or player may result in dismissal for the game or tournament at the discretion of the official.
- Player misconduct, flagrant or intentional fouling may result in immediate dismissal of the guilty player(s) or team from that particular game and/or the tournament at the discretion of the official.
- A technical foul may be called for a player dunking or attempting a dunk. NO DUNKING ALLOWED!! It may also be called for illegal substitution or hanging on the rim.
- Any player dismissed from the tournament must leave the playing area immediately and must not return to the playing area for the remainder of the tournament.
